Remembering my Grand Uncle, Scots Guard, 2nd Bt, L/C Arthur Charles Bruin 2696882. Lost 26/02/42 age 24 in Libya.
just wanted to say a quick hello. I’m in the process of researching my Grandmother’s Brother who was lost in Libya in 1942 aged 24.
Thank you . Just in the process of requesting his service records. One I’ve exhausted everything I can on Arthur I’ll be starting the journey with my Grandpa as I have minimal information on him.
This is my Grand Uncle who I am currently researching (I am his older sister’s Granddaughter). I am led to believe that he was on a personnel carrier which drove over a land mine.
2696882 Lance Corporal Arthur Charles BRUIN 2nd Battalion Scots Guards Died of Wounds 26th February 1942 Casualty Good luck with your research
Thank you Guy!! I’d not found that newspaper article so that was so nice of you. Yes he was the eldest son, his Brother Frank was in the HG and his older sister (my Grandma Florence) was married to Alfred Roberts (my Grandpa) who was in Libya (Tobruk) at the same time but with with the BNAF. I know I have a very long road ahead of me in researching and am hoping to being able to put firm details around who Arthur was. I can always remember Grandma proudly displayed his photo on her dressing table, he appears to have been the apple of her eye. Thank you again
