    Following the brilliant responses to my search for info on fusilier Syd Pullen, I thought I'd test your patience and ask for information on Stan Davis who was reported missing by 11th December 1944.

    I tried searching the CWGC website/database but without success.

    From my dad's returned letter to him, it looks like he would have been in Italy earlier in 1944, so if he was killed, Italy is likely where he died. However, who knows, he may have survived.

    Any input will (once again) be very welcome.

    Dad's letter to his cousin Stan Davis is here: Sergeant ACK-ACK: You've got post

    Do you know where 22nd Field Regt RA where in Dec 1944?

    Well done Gus, I couldn't find it as I was using the wrong initials.

    Steve Dee as the originator, can you see if you can change the title of this post?

    Sorry, I'm an idiot. I should have noticed the "F" in field is in the same style as Stan's middle initial.

    Despite giving you guys duff information you've dug up some brilliant info. I just need some time to digest. I can't remember anyone ever saying we had a POW in the family!

    I thought I'd share this photo with you, as its my favourite family picture;
    Davisfam.jpg

    Probably taken c1925, Stanley F Davis is the little chap in the front row, 3rd in from right. My dad is next to him (2nd from right). This picture also contains my granddad Albert and great granddad Robert (in centre). How they got all those kids to sit still I'll never know.

    22 Fd Regt RA were one of the three integral artillery Regts of 4 Inf Div - they wear wherever the Div went and fired their 25 pounder guns in support of the three Inf Bdes in the Div - 10, 12 and 28 Inf Bdes.

    4 Inf Div were at both Cassino and on the Gothic Line. They played a major part in the Fourth Battle of Cassino in May 44 as part of XIII (BR) Corps in the Liri Valley and on the Gothic Line at Rimini in Sep 44 as part of 1 (Cdn) Corps.

    Regards
