Protest by some farmers - policeman tried to pepper spray them to make them move out of the way, wind blew spray over the policeman and some of the riders, so the race was stopped for 11 minutes. TD Tour de France halted amid farmers' protest on stage 16
Odd coverage here. When the broadcast began it showed the riders had 130 KM to go until they finished, so it was well after the farmers. The guy on the motorcycle mentioned the incident and they showed a brief clip, but that was it.

Always enjoyed his and Phils commentary - very knowledgeable both of the sport and of the localities the race was in at the time. Their simultaneous translation of French to English was incredible RIP Paul As the Tour de France begins, we remember the life of Paul Sherwen TD
Missing him already. They just rode past this magnificent thing and not a word from any of the announcers. Lion's Mound - Wikipedia

I'm hopeless at the geography of this part of France. Did they go by the Marne or Belleau Wood battlefields today?
Hi Owen. They showed a nice drone shot of it but I don't remember if there were any cyclists in the picture, now that you mention it. Guess I ass-u-me-ed again.
I know post is a few days old but no. Belleau Wood was to the west of the route. Edit. Trying to upload a screenshot but it wont.
