don't know if its allowed on here but i'm after a book called " The Gunners of Arnhem " by Peter William Wilkinson. ive looked all over the web but cannot find one anywhere, i was wondering if anyone has a copy they could sell me would be much appreciated. thanks
I hope that sort of thing is allowed here too! Abebooks lists a copy but it's near mint and signed and they are asking for 250 pounds for it.
Yikes!!! just had a look bit out my price range albeit a signed first edition, might have a stroll down the library see what they come up with
Don't know if you're looking for the actual book (It went through 2 reprints, the last in 2008) or information from it. Peter Wilkinson passed most of his material to Bob Gerritsen who used it extensively for his book on the 1st Airlanding Light Regiment at Arnhem called Target Mike One, which was published in 2015.
the reason i'm after the book is i've just received my late fathers military records he enlisted in the TA in 1938 in the 4th btn kings own royal reg then was transferred to 56th anti tank regt attended camp for 15 days in 1939 then was attached to unit 223 a/t 2nd btn oxford and bucks with the rank of Gr ( i assume gunner) 1940 appointed Dr 1/c. in 1944 he was with the 1st airlanding a/t brg , taken prisoner and ended rest of the war in stalag X11A. released by allied forces 8/8/45 and the rest is history
The 4th post contains a link to the King's Own museum who were selling a CD of their regimental history including their converted units: 56th Anti-tank Regiment
The link in that post is dead. The museum site moved. I believe the same CD is what is mentioned at the bottom of this page: King's Own Royal Regiment Museum

Allan - I think I have also been able to source a copy of the book "Gunners at Arnhem" for you. It was about to be entered into an auction but I have asked the seller to hold back for a couple of days.
