no idea, why it does not work, In addition I copied the link to a WORD page, but not possible to upload it.
You could try to search for in the Daily telegraph Media T.
It is about a STALAG in Bavaria and the theatre show performed by british troops.

The difficulty in access may be due to The Daily Telegraph having a pay wall?

Bearable is the friendships and Red Cross Parcels. The rest of what they endured was sheer misery- lice, random shooting and beatings, malnutrition, filthy conditions, rats, severe hunger, back breaking labour, boredom, suicides, people going insane etc.

    Barbara,
all true. I can only comment on the OFLAG VB. I am sure there were many other camps with much worse condiditions.
And a prison camp is a prison camp, no matter what individuals were trying to make it bearable.

    Hi Stefan
The Oflags do sound much better than the Stalags.

    Hi Barbara,
very true, however I have reports from a Stalag in Austria were the guys worked in the vinyards and such, had healthy food and were looked after by a very friendly farmers family. The farm is still there today.

    Hi Stefan,
I’ve read that Farm work was a welcome change from being in the camp and often the best chance of better food- depending on the farmer.
But overall, Stalags were not good places to be :(

    Hi Barbara,
I am 100% in agreement. To me STALAG should rally be translated to Straflager which in English would be Punishment Camp.
