Can any of your eagle eyed folks help me decipher the word after Prussia please? I think it begins with B. This was taken from the 1871 census. The entry Message Boy leads me to think it begins with B. Many thanks
"Britishsub" to me: short for "British subject" ? See capital "B" and 'lower case' "s" in "Message boy" and "b" in "Labourer".
I think you could be right papermache. Family research, always leads to more questions than answers. Thanks for your input and time.
Thanks Tony. Now I'm left wondering why the census enumerator noted that. I thought it was an area of Berlin perhaps. Going to have to see if the Manchester records survive for the Newbridge workhouse 1875 where he died.
