Hi guys. Is anyone able to ID the cap badge and badge on forearm? Difficult I know, but they’re some clever so and so’s here! Alex
Did think at first of Musician trade badge on army but looking closer not sure. Any further info on who he is & what nationality ?
A friend of mine posted the pic on Facebook. It’s his grandad. Doesn’t know much. He’s a UK soldier and I think this photo is interwar as he said he was stationed at Lucknow in India. I believe his service continued into WW2.
To be honest I have no clue as to the badges but if your mate knows his Grandad's date of birth & has 30 quid just apply for service records.
Could it be Suffolk Regiment - the shape of the collar badge is correct? The cap badge on his hat is distorted because he is wearing a red and a yellow rose behind the badge. You cannot see the red one on the black and white photo but the yellow one is there. It is was traditional in the Suffolk Regiment to do this on Minden Day every 1st August. The roses were presented to the soldiers by the officers. Regards Frank
