Anyone ID unit?

Hi guys.
Is anyone able to ID the cap badge and badge on forearm? Difficult I know, but they’re some clever so and so’s here!

A friend of mine posted the pic on Facebook. It’s his grandad. Doesn’t know much. He’s a UK soldier and I think this photo is interwar as he said he was stationed at Lucknow in India. I believe his service continued into WW2.

 

It kind of looks like the Norfolk Regiment but I'm not convinced.

 

Yeah he’s doing that, just thought I’d try a heads up on here first.

Definitely not Norfolk. The collar badges are too fat.

Do you know where he was from, is there a Lancashire connection?

Gloucester originally, Suffolk later.

 

Could it be Suffolk Regiment - the shape of the collar badge is correct? The cap badge on his hat is distorted because he is wearing a red and a yellow rose behind the badge. You cannot see the red one on the black and white photo but the yellow one is there.

It is was traditional in the Suffolk Regiment to do this on Minden Day every 1st August. The roses were presented to the soldiers by the officers.
