Unidentified British Formation Patch

Can anyone recognize the anchor formation patch being worn by this Pioneer Corps Sgt? The only anchor formation flash I can find online is 227 Inf Bde but it's a red anchor on a black rectangular background.

For what it's worth, the photos was taken circa - 1946 and the Sgt is wearing a tie with his battledress - I believe ORs were only permitted to wear ties around 1947 - 47!!​

OR's were permitted to wear open collars and ties from late (October/November) 1944.

I'm not sure how long after the landings the Beach Group flash would have been worn. Anyone know?

My Grandfather served with the Pioneer Corps, and was attached to a Beach Group unit at Normandy.

Hi Steve, No, I'm not researching Beach Gps, but thanks for your interest. My research subject is the British occupation of the Faroes in WW2 and a guy whose father served there with the Pnr Corps sent me some photos of his father which included a group of SNCOs wearing Beach Gp patches. As I knew it wasn't the Faroe Islands Force (FIF) patch, I said I'd ID the badge for him, hence this series of Posts. (The FIF formation patch is depicted on the left of this post.)
