Is that of any interest? He was already very ill and weak when he arrived from another camp.
I have pics from the funeral and a memorial stone in a cemetary including his name in my home town.

I do have these pics. The chapel and the monastery are still there, but I will post new pics with a memorial soon.

Stefan, I believe Derrick had two sisters.

Mary F Cavaye born Sep 1921 and believe she married June 1948 in Surrey.

Anne H Cavaye born Kensington Dec 1929.

As they or their children could be alive, if I find further info I'll send you a private message.

Stefan he matches the description of gomel/gommel- I was wondering if that could be him. He does have the aqualine nose...

There is one family tree on Ancestry. But I can't see the last time they logged in to Ancestry. Tricky Dicky might be able to see it and if the account is still active. I'll send him a message.

RR, I think this is more likely "Snow White", Hauptmann Gonnel was the German officer very close to the British officers, but too low in rank to match Fotune.

This memorial site includes among british deporties from Guernsey, also the name of Lt. Derrik Fred Cavaye. The site in Biberach is open for visitors every day.

    Stefan.
I have selected max.3pics from the Biberach Stadtfriedhof(cemetary). Among the name of another british officer shot by German guards Lt. Michael Sturton, the memorial stone also includes the names of british deportees from Guernsey which were in the same camp until 1945.
The site is open for visitors every day during the day.
    Stefan.
