A member asked me to start a thread to see if anyone could help:

"Yesterday a Rochdale PCSO Tweeted a request for help to find the owner of a suitcase [lost property dumped in Bacup] that contains hundreds of photos. It's possible the owner retired to Rhyl. They don't know if he's died or not. My first reaction was to ask if there were any military photos as this website could help find the owner or family via connections, veterans organisations or museums. The PCSO DM's me quickly with a WWII era photo. Looks like he was in the infantry. RGJ perhaps?
His name is Leslie H. Hamer

The PCSO said he'd be able to send more WWII photos to me on Friday."

    Said picture:

    Any thoughts?

Just checked further - nothing in deaths before 2015 - so guess he has died since Jan 2016 - not yet updated on sites such as Ancestry

So much optimism between the lines of the wedding report...and now a lifetime's memories dumped in an old suitcase. I hope that it was by accident. It would be sad if there was no family to be interested.

    Smart move :)

No point in broadcasting her details on the net.

Excellent work once again on the Forum perhaps the boys in blue should ask here again. May be able to sort out the high crime rate :police:

    :) Well done again Guy

Excellent, and by a stroke of synchronicity, the officer returning them has the same name as the family.
