The Notorious Board Game That Takes 1,500 Hours To Complete

Hahaha it's kind of infamous for the detailed level of supply tracking required.

Haven't played or seen it.

The closest I got to that sort of thing was GDW's Operation Crusader which had a separate map for each player and markers to indicate friendly territory. You had to call out when you entered hostile territory and would not know what was there until you encountered it!

 

Never heard of it.

I never understood Colditz. Anyone ever figure that game out?

A couple of points... yep, played Battle for North Africa; at university, D&D was taking a grip, so we held out with big SPI games. Had a lost weekend playing "NATO Divisional Commander" in my room. Started Friday night after lectures... gave up, exhausted, at about 4 on Sunday afternoon... Secondly, whilst I still have my original - if battered - copy of (You'll Never...) Escape from Colditz - which I fully intend to deploy at Christmas with like-minded friends (oy, including women...) have you SEEN the cost of the reissue?!

 

Must be down to the cost of all the meetings to 'design out' the swastika. Now stand by for complaints from the 'nice' Germans that it was all the Nazis' fault!

Do all of the Squad Leader expansion modules count? I've not been able to wade through all of those and they are now stored out in my shed for my children to deal with after my demise.

There was also a strategic game called World in Flames which had a lot of expansions for different areas of the world.

Speaking of a deluxe edition:

“It will have four 830mm x 574mm hard-mounted maps and three 420mm x 297mm hard-mounted mini-maps and displays, totalling 2.27 sqm.

 

Seroster, World in Flames has been converted into a PC game but there is no AI so it's multiplayer only unless you want to take both sides.
