I have found reference of No5/6 Commando training with the Marine Aircraft Experimental Establishment, Helensburgh, during the early years of the war. One such trial involved dinghies and Short Sunderland flying boats. Any more information please.

Any pictures of No5/6 commando in Helensburgh, or Scotland, would be of interest too.

Hi Robin. Any luck with photos?
I have just found out a relative was on No5...
    Cheers

I wonder if this was triggered by the German use of flying boats and dinghies to deliver assault troops in 1940
