Hi trying to get hold of a copy of 2nd Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire War diaries (WO175/493 1943 March - June) With regards a Lance Corporal Jack Livsey 5961125 Wounded and repatriated? with injuries received as a result of Mortar Fire on his Bren Gun Team whilst serving in Tunisia. Jack was the father of a friend of mine. Jack is to be buried on Monday 17th July 2018. His son has very basic information ( Casualty Lists for 6 May 1943 but no 'context' as to how his fathers injuries were received. As yet the family have not had time to apply for Jacks Service Records before the funeral . I said I would trawl the web for him to see if the war Diaries are readily available: Regimental Museum as yet has not responded and assume that family may have to go to Kew! Would anyone know how i could obtain war diary for Mar - June 1943? More than happy to pay. best regards Neil.

Hi Andy much appreciated. I'm probably after April- June 1943 inclusive. I did click on the link in the Excel spreadsheet for WO175 but it came up with documents in WO176? It may be that I couldn't see them so not sure if the link was was correct or not?

Welcome to the forum Neil. I cant help you out with the War diaries, but I'm more than willing to scan the pages from Chapter 13.
Tunisia - The Final Battles. It covers the period you are after, April - June 43. If you would like to PM (Private message) me then I will send on the pages. It will give you a start until you get the diaries. I'm not sure if there is a Regimental History of the 2nd. Others will correct me if there is one.

    Regards
    Stu.

Where in the country are you? I'm the proud owner of the "history of the Beds and Herts" in 2 volumes covering their history. This was a private publication by their ex C.O, Lt Col Barrow and is very comprehensive.

Alex, thank-you for the correction. I did not know that the volumes where out there. My main concern is with the 1st Battalion when they where with the 1st British Division in Italy, 66 Infantry Brigade.Nice one for the heads up. It looks as if it may not be cheap.

    Paul, welcome to the forum.

    Regards
