Does anyone have, or point me to somewhere I can find, the key to the German defense symbols used on the GSGS D Day map overprints please? Thanks, Peter
Correct the legend for the map are located in the border but the 'defense overlay' legend is printed on the reverse side, which I do not have I only have electronic copies of the map (front).
Hello Peter, Here's the reverse of Italy 1:25,000 GSGS 4228 Sheet 160 II NE Cassino (1944), Military Conventional Signs used by AAPIU in the annotation of Defences from Air Photographs. Richard.
The original maps have the German Defence symbols on the back in the middle of the map. I have copies of these as I photographed them when I did the maps from several war diaries for forum members. If someone can tell me the unit (I have too many diaries to randomly look through) I'll have a look for you.
Hello Richard, I know i'm taking a large liberty here, but do you have the front of that map, or point me to a source? Regards Stu.
Richard, that's most useful. It may be me, but i cant find has many maps in the University of Texas Libraries when it comes to Cassino. Thanks for the link. Regards Stu.
