    A. Probably me not getting the hang of it just yet, but no matter how many times I use those two menu options they return exactly the same results so appear to be functionally identical.

When a thread is viewed to the last post, the thread then drops off both sets of results.

Whereas clicking that sub-menu will include a recent thread that you have also recently viewed. I would expect the main "Recent Posts" menu would take you directly to that result (as it does on ARRSE).

Apologies, mate. Think it might be a permissions thing as I've tried it now with the test profile and it does exactly what you describe.
    Hmmm.

    Ah. Try it now.
Had probably used slightly wrong link format. Changed Template and seems right on Test now.
(Hey - one template edit to get this far. You know that's special. )

    Buggrit!
That's internal site links isn't it.
Leave them for now and I'll have a shufti later, there may be a clever way, or a find/replace method for sorting the format.

Yes, I've noticed that inter-forum links don't now function as the old-board locations they led to do not now exist although the threads are still around at new addresses.

With search functioning they aren't vital, but I'm afraid that there are probably quite a sizeable number of them out there.

If there isn't a pre-built option, it looks like thread IDs have stayed the same so a simple PHP script or mod_rewrite could sort out auto redirects to threads.
But links to posts within a thread look more complex.

It's a bonny new format - thanks for all the hard work. I don't know how you do all the late nights.

    Important note, chaps.
Some point soon-ish, the main forum access URL/link will change to a very plain WW2talk. com, without all the 'forums' etc.
When that goes through, if the site disappears you may all have to change your links a little.

The thread linking thing may be a fixed embuggeration I'm afraid.
There is more dreary tech stuff to come in the background which might sort some things, but I'm very sorry as it looks likely internal links may have to be redone manually.
Give it a few days before acting though.

The 'Resources' area may be the interesting counter to all this, though.
    Resources | WW2Talk
Quite possibly an area where 'proper' research can be stored in a more solid form than any thread, with threads feeding into that downloadable stored 'stuff' (and also the .Org wiki.).
Needs setting up into right categories etc., but it's all rather intriguing.

That Resources area looks like it will have fantastic potential. Bit of an updatable textbook feel about it.

What follows is strictly feedback and, perish the thought, definitely not complaints. :)

My Gallery shows nothing but the 3 dreaded circles that someone else has mentioned.

If this is one of the items that is still to be sorted simply reply WAIT !

    Thanks

    Ron

I can see all your pics, Ron, so looks like it might just be a settings thing.
Hang on and I'll go digging.

just looking around mostly at the moment and made one post with web link and photo, which went well.
Looking like you back room boffins have done a wonderful job and judging from the comments only a little fine tuning remains.
Considering the migration and logistical problems I think all involved deserve a Medal.

    Regards
    Tom

    Ron,
When you get the 'Three dot' albums, can you then click on that album to view the images within?
Think it might be that albums from the previous setup just don't have a 'cover' set, as newly made albums seem to.
If so, I'll keep digging to see if that image can be user selected or auto-generated.

    Actually...
Think there may be something squiffy here.
All the images appear to be there (search by username in media), but may well have fallen out of some of the albums.

Still digging for a more settings-based fix, but there is a way to do things manually.
When you click and open an image to full (with all those edit & sharing tools I'd not seen), there's an 'edit media' button that then gives you a 'move image' option to shuffle things back into correct albums.

See below for easier mass-move method.

Also combing permissions to make sure everyone can do this, create albums etc. in the gallery.

Yes, I'm afraid the album boxes may have been dropped on the floor and all the contents needs sticking back in.

Thankfully, this can be sorted in a mass way by each member.

    Top bar: Media.
    >Media bar: Your content>Dropdown>Your media

    Capture.JPG

You can then select images en masse by ticking the little white box top right on each one, and a pop-up gives you 'Other action' > 'Move Media' to shuffle stuff back into the right albums.
