Hello there, I am a Grandson of Leonard Robinson of the 23rd Field Regiment, RCA 83rd Battery. I have visited their Battle Fields a few time and put their History to video, with two more to complete. I was excited to learn of this site, thought I would share the documentary with you. Hope you are still connected to this thread. Took me two trips to Adegem to find MR Graham Browne at Adegem Canadian War Cemetery. I payed respects to all that were lost from the 23rd during my travels in Europe, placing a poppy and a Canadian Flag on their graves, a most humbling experience. Perhaps you may have already seen my Youtube channel ? I believe I have spoken to Mr. Michael Monahan via email at some other link? If I recall. Anyway Hope to hear from someone. Here's the link to the 23rd Field Regiment's History on YouTube 23rd Field Regiment (S.P.) RCA series - YouTube cheers

Welcome from the Netherlands 23 Field Regt RCA Very nice web site you have there Philip, well done. I see the picture of P.F. Taylor there from Oakville in your 23rd listing, very nice.
My father was Capt. John (Jack) Donohue who as a FOO was captured on August 10, 1944 during Operation Totalize and spent the balance of the war as a POW. I am looking for any information, photo's etc. that might be available, or be given directions as to where I might find any material that might relate to my father's involvement with the 23rd. Thanks! Myself and other family members have viewed the video done on the Regiment and appreciated seeing this history being preserved.
The complete War Diaries for the 23rd (SP) Field Regiment RCA can be found at the Heritage Canadiana website. Here are the links along with page numbers for each reel: Reel T-16432 - Image 1686-1862 http://heritage.canadiana.ca/view/oocihm.lac_reel_t16432/1?r=0&s=1 Reel T-16433 - Image 10-1905 http://heritage.canadiana.ca/view/oocihm.lac_reel_t16433/1?r=0&s=1 Reel T-16434 - Image 10-1529 http://heritage.canadiana.ca/view/oocihm.lac_reel_t16434/1?r=0&s=1 Reel T-16435 - Image 10-294 http://heritage.canadiana.ca/view/oocihm.lac_reel_t16435/1?r=0&s=1 There is a great deal of material here. It is chronological. A couple of hints are in order. I find it best to increase the size of each file three times for a decent download (you need only do this once). Also pre-rotate the images before you download to make them easier to read. On a Mac, I right-click on each image to download it, giving it a name. I am sure a similar method will work on a PC. Hi, My name is Kit Redmond and my father served with your Dad. His name was Jim Redmond, (Michael James Redmond from Cobourg) He always spoke highly of him. I'm going to Europe this Spring to retrace his steps and I'll share anything I find with you. This resource is amazing!
Hi everyone! I found a Willys MB Canadian slat grill in a barn in Sweden last year. We found all of the original markings underneath two layers of paint. After doing som research and also getting help from ppl in this forum as well as locating the actual jeep in the Canadian War diaries we were able to confirm that the jeep is vehicle S6 of "F" Troop, No. 2 Squadron, 23rd Field Rgt, 4th Canadian (Armoured) Divisional Signals. Also that the S6 jeep most likely was assigned to the OC of "F" Troop. Would be amazing to see if there is any possibility to maybe find any photographs from when it was in service. The jeep is being immaculately restored to its original condition with only original parts as much as it's possible. Willys MB 119120 CDLV-242 DoD: 2-12-42 TUB: 22302 ENGINE: GPA-3857 WD: CM1165051
Want to add that maybe any relatives of "The 83rd", from the 8th Field Brigade (Reserve) from the areas of Hamilton, Brantford, and St. Catharines, Ontario might have exciting info or even photos. Its company name was "Roger" and the troops' initials were E (Easy) and F (Fox).
Re Capt Donohue. My father, Captain John Monahan, was a FOO in the 23rd and often mentioned Capt. Donohue. I have some pictures of a John Donohue taken on exercise in Sussex in 1944.
I recently found the attached on 23rd Field War Diary T-16435. Still checking for vehicle names and census numbers. Cheers Kevin
