I'd love to see something proven about influence of the moon on human brains. I've always thought there was a kernel of truth to some tales, after all nature gives us so many wonderful examples of synchronisation of animal behaviour with the full moon.

(I bet though that the first werewolf tale was actually based on a woman ;) )

Thought this thread might coincide with a Full Moon but I see from the Moon Phase feature on the Portal it's only 69%.

I'm sure I read somewhere that psychiatric admissions go up during a full moon.

I've wondered about the moons influence on our bodies, given the amount of water we carry in our bodies. Moons affect tides, so why not humans?

If it were the tide effect it would make you more or less lopsided at 28 days intervals :)

Well, thanks Owen. I just popped outside to have a look and got hit on the head with a rather large pine cone. Is that a good or bad omen? Also too cloudy here to get a clear view.

Amberdog mentioned psychiatric problems at full moon.
Once my work involved a psychiatric hospîtal in Malaya, and when the full moon was due the patients were locked up. Normally they had a lot of freedom, but at this time they could evidently flip and go on the rampage. Something to do with the extra light interfering with part of the brain that would normally induce sleep.
As a coincidence, I was just listening to Richter playing that lovely theme from Rachmaninov's piano concerto No. 2 - "Full Moon, and empty arms."
