Probably taken in the Cologne area late 1945 (Cologne photo studio stamp on reverse). Don't really know anything about this. CGs possibly?

Hi Diane, I have added some more photos to my album 'snapshot of a grenadier guard 1933-1945'. Includes group pictures of athletics teams and other groups. I've included as much information as I know in the title of each photo.

Many thanks Fran, some great photos there.

Great idea to add a link, hope others will do the same.

Geoff thanks for reviving this thread with your photos.
Will have to check the History, not sure where CG were post hostilities.
Micks weren't that far away from Cologne, ended up close to Gerry Chester's lot in NRW.

    Hi Lofty
Many thanks for posting, super photos.

My reason for asking is for a common benefit. So many ask for photos of relatives, this being one of the most difficult things to find when not in possession. Background research is easier to piece together in comparison.

The photo was found with some concert programs like this one:

And a few others, Wagner, Mozart, Beethoven concerts given at Bad Godesberg - south of Cologne.

Possibly Guards Armoured Division, but I'm not sure.

    Hi Tom,
Thanks but it sounds like he has enough on his hands already with those he's offered to do.
Sadly the lists are long for particular cemeteries and as was pointed out to me by a couple of the more seasoned collectors of such things, it's always going to be a long haul.

    Cheers

Thank you for the picture of Guardsman S Buckley Coldstream Guards 5th Battalion he is my uncle on my dads side. My father never got to see his grave as he passed before his trip in 1991. There were 5 boys who went to war and uncle Stan didn't come back. His mother and father never got over his loss.

Hello and welcome to the forum Margaret.

Thanks for dropping in. Have you researched much about your uncle, got a copy of his service records for example?

It'd be great if you could add a photo of Stanley to the thread, to put a face to the name.

    Regards
    Diane
