Seeking info from 4th Hussar: The Story of the 4th Queen's Own Hussers

  1. If anyone has a copy of the above mentioned book I would be most grateful for a scan of the chapter covering the Malayan Emergency where the 4/QOH were deployed between 1948 and 1951.

The history was published by Gale & Polden in 1959.

Alternatively if you happened to have a relative that served with the 4/QOH in Malaya I would be interested to hear from you.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Jonathan S

After my time with the 4th QOH , I'm afraid, but try leaving a message here: Trooper Cresswell Rutter - 4th Queens Own Hussars 1939-1945

    or here: Home

    Good luck !

    ps
Just remembered I met up with a 4th QOH man at the Cenotaph last November who may have served in Malaysia, I've left a message on his phone and will come back here if I have any joy !

  3. Ron - thanks very much. I will wait on your phone enquiry before leaving other messages, so please let me know outcome. This is most appreciated.

Have you considered getting copies of the units war diaries. They all appear to be available for the time period you are interested in.

Detecting your browser settings <--- Clickety Click ;)

If you can't get to the National Archives I can copying them for you.

    Cheers

  7. Ron - again many thanks.

Andy - for some reason I didnt think the War Diaries would be available for Malaya. Good call! I'll try and arrange a trip to Kew this summer but if I can't I'll come back to your kind offer. I had considered TNA as possibly having a copy of the Regimental History.

    Thanks and regards,

    Hi Jonathan
Stumbled across this forum while researching 4/QOH in Malaya for a 92 yr old family friend as he has enjoyed recounting his memories of his time in Malaya and would love to pass on any other stories to him.
Would love to hear from you
