    What about this suggestion Matt?

    I think it is Harlow.
There is 3 small photos of him here, and the uniform shot showing him I guess post war makes me think it is him, plus his age in the jump course picture, because he was pretty much the oldest Padre involved. Sadly there is no record surviving of his course details.

Anyone got any confirmatory info on the other officers? I got this from the assistant curator from Duxford who kindly helped out with my questions. If the photo you have is older than the course date recorded on his jump course record, perhaps the Feb 1945 course is a post Arnhem refresher? Also you mention him as a Major, but from the archive record he has been promoted. I suppose the promotions will be in the LG?

50841 Lt Col Winchester JC on course B151, his unit is listed as 9 Fd Coy RE, which would have put the course date between 30/01/1945 to 16/02/1945.

    Hi Matt,

Sadly I don't have a definitive date for the photo. All I can say with any certainty is that it was taken AFTER June 1944 as that was when the RAF instructor in the photo joined the staff at Ringway.

    All the best...........:)

    Hello mate,

Yeah I remember the fella with "the ring" but I'm not sure if they're the same bloke. Here are the other two pics in question. In the first our man is standing at the back in the middle and in the second he is kneeling down second from the right with his hand on Jeff Mitchell's shoulder. There is also a third potential candidate! In the third pic he has been named as either Ed Orbell or Fred Allman??

Have a look and see what you think..............:)

Hello and welcome to this thread. Feel free to add anymore pics you want, the more the merrier! Do you have any more info about the picture of your Grandfather such as the date it was taken and what was his name? I have to say and please don't take this the wrong way, but that must have been the hardest looking Hockey team in the British Army!
As for naming any of the other fellas, the chap standing in the back row, third from the right does look a bit like Private Bernard F. Salt. "Salty" was a member of No.6 Platoon, B Coy, 2 Para at Arnhem and was wounded during the battle. He features in the very famous (and indeed, only) set of pictures taken of the Brits at Arnhem Bridge. The pics were taken of the patrol led by Capt. Killick.
Have a look and see what you think.

    All the best..........:)

That's very true Philip. Some of the faces do look familiar though but maybe that's just down to the fact that we've all seen SO many pictures we're starting to suffer from "face overload"!

My grandfather is L/Cpl Upperton rear rank extreme left in uniform. I found this pic in the Duxford records office just before christmas! The man in the front rank centre was the CO 2 para Battalion after Frost, Lt Col J W B Marshall, he was only in command for a year when Frost resumed command in 1946. The Pic was probably taken spring 1945 at the end of the 44 hockey season.
L/Cpl Upperton joined 10 Para Bn from the Royal Sussex in 1943 i have attached his Para course record from Kabrit in April 1943, 2 of the named in his stick died at Arnhem with the 10th. I have all the names from the hockey pic, i will post them later!

Nice pic Paul, it looks as though that was taken in front of the same Hut at Ashby camp as the Hockey team pic.
Re Pte Salt, the bloke in the Pic was someone called Dean.
