1053112 Warrant Officer Thomas Albert Vermiglio was a crewmember of Whitley Z6829 of No. 102 Squadron which came down 15th August 1941 on Terschelling, an island in the Frisian Chain. Four members of the crew were killed. F.W. Penn and Vermiglio survived the crash and were taken prisoner. I am interested in finding anything about Vermiglio from the time he was taken POW.
My dad often spoke of Tom Vermiglio when discussing his time as a POW. I think that was the chap he said was amazingly ambidextrous and could write his name backwards with one hand and forwards with the other at the same time. He said Tom was a very clever chap and they enjoyed talking about science and maths together. Dad did say he wasn't a very practical chap and my dad helped him out with practical stuff in return for help with his correspondence course. Does this sound like the right person? I do hope so. My dad was Lloyd George Robinson RAF navigator-radio operator from Nottingham.

Kay, I am sure that he must be the same person. About 5 or 6 years ago I was very fortunate to find Tom and speak to him. I don't know if he is still with us. If so he would be 95 now. He had a very interesting story to tell about his war time experiences. David Railton
