OK, straight from the horse's mouth. There IS going to be a new edition of "Poles Apart". Dates etc are unknown at this time but it is definitely going to happen.
There you go Jason, hopefully your short arms will be able to reach far enough in for this version!

I think I slept,I have not heard or read about this book.
    Who has more information.

    Other question.
I've heard/read that, in the Netherlands and Britain, people are working on a book on the 11th parachute battalion.
Somebody has more information about it.

    And last question.
I read about the book, Escape from Arnhem and the publish date is 28th februari 2010. Is it correct??

    Thanks for that AM.

    Ramon,

If you go to © Defending Arnhem you'll see the book we're talking about. As for the one on the 11th Battalion, I believe that is being done by David Truesdale and is due out sometime in 2010 :)
    All the best........

I keep my eyes open in the future.:D
Hope that the book on the 11th battalion is coming out this year because there is almost no information about it. I believe there is a guy in the Netherlands who is also researching the battalion and if somebody have more information, I like to hear it.

You're right Tom , I haven't got this one. I don't know whether or not to get a copy as I'm unsure as to how '1st Airborne' specific it is. I believe the author looks at the three 'attempts' to take Arnhem Bridge during WW2, firstly by the Germans in 1940, then during OMG and finally in 1945 when the Allies eventually liberated Arnhem .

Gerald (Flammy) Flamberg (later Lambert) was a former army boxing champion who was awarded his MM for his actions at 'the blocking line' on Dreijenseweg on Tuesday 19th Sept. 1944. Flamberg knocked out a German tank with a Gammon bomb and was wounded in the shoulder in the process. Later he was asked by RSM Gay to help him stalk and attack another tank in the same area. Flamberg and Gay attacked the second tank with a combination of hand grenades and Gammon bombs and during the attack RSM Gay was wounded in the legs. Flamberg managed to drag Gay to safety, despite his shoulder wound. Gay was awarded the DCM and Flamberg the MM. Later on Flamberg was taken prisoner and treated at St. Joseph's hospital, Apeldoorn and then he was moved to Oflag 79 in Germany.
After the war, Flamberg and Pip Gardener VC toured Britain raising funds for the National Association of Boys' Clubs and he was also close friends with Joe Louis the World Heavyweight Boxing Champion.

All info from "From Delhi to Arnhem" by John O'Reilly............:)

RSM Gay dropped with his Bn. at Arnheim on 18th September 1944 his coolness and courage, and a sense of discipline which no danger could divert, were of first rate importance when the Bn. found itself in action even as it began to organise on the ground. During the fighting that day and the next his leadership was conspicuous. On the second day a German AFV was harrassing him from a road, covered by flanking fire froma Spandau. Ignoring intense fire from the MG he charged the tank, attracting its attention away from the Battalion HQ, and trying to put it out of action with a (Some Text Missing) but he was severely wounded in the leg, by the tanks machine gun, and subsequently made a prisoner.

His conduct as a P/W has now been reported on in terms of the highest praise. Once recovered from his wounds he was determined that imprisonment would affect within his own (Some Text Missing) not anyone elses. The (Some Text Missing) high state of health and spirits, and discipline which he assisted RSM Lord to produce in a prison camp is now well known and reflects most adequately the tradition of a regular Grenadier Guardsman and a member of the 1st Airborne Division which RSM Gay represents.

I think Paul is confused because it looks like his 1st Edition is a 1971 United States one and yours an English.
Edit: Paul is not confused, obviously it was first released in the US a month before the English Edition. Got this info from the Master himself in a .Doc file today but missed the
    difference. Sorry Paul:)
