Hi all

I am interested in selling these medals, photo's, books etc. to fund another purchase.

Is there a spot on the Forum that deals with this?

Regards

What I'd like to know is who the people in the third photo are. The happy smile on that girls face?

Maybe the lack of armed guards means they really are innocent souls, being guided out of a combat zone? It's just that I find so little record of civilians, meeting with the SS, ending up smiling.

The photo was taken in August 1944 in the ruins of Warsaw, after the Warsaw Uprising. There is a second photo here
File:Bundesarchiv Bild 101I-695-0423-14, Warschauer Aufstand, flüchtende Zivilisten.jpg - Wikimedia Commons

There can't have been any delusions for these poor women, it is probably a smile of defiance.

Booha,

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I stand to be corrected, but I have the book "Rising '44", by Norman Davies.

Photographs taken both during the uprising and afterwards do not show the Yellow star being worn by the participants.

Perhaps this was a decision taken by all to remove the Star of David.

If this is the case, the large crowd of women and children could be being taken to a Concentration camp.
